# Known limitations

> The current Beta is local, macOS only, Apple Silicon only, and intentionally narrow.

- Canonical page: https://www.winskel.com/docs/known-limitations
- Applies to: Winskel public download 0.7.0-alpha.1 (alpha channel), Apple Silicon, macOS 12 or later
- Content updated: 2026-10-06
- Agent reference: https://www.winskel.com/agents.md

## Current Beta

- The Beta build is not signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized, so macOS asks you to approve the first launch
- Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 12 or later only; no Intel Macs, Windows, or Linux
- No automatic updates; new builds come from winskel.com
- Some screens in the app still say Alpha; they belong to the same Beta build
- Claude Code is required; Codex is optional
- Free plan limits are enforced by the backend. Pro checkout starts in Settings → Billing
- Routing follows a fixed, versioned policy; learning from outcomes is still in development. Explicit model and workflow rules always win
- Winskel splits work when you ask or the work is high risk; a numbered list alone runs as one step
- Winskel does not run project checks on work Codex writes inside its sandbox, so Codex steps show as not verified
- Revert is in testing
- Provider usage readings update only when that agent runs and can be stale
- Winskel Cloud and remote phone control are not available, and Muse integration is planned, not available
- Provider limits and model availability still apply
- Git worktrees are not a filesystem sandbox

## How limitations are reported

Provider differences are shown rather than flattened into a claim that every agent behaves the same way. This page lists only limitations of the current Beta.
