## Requirements

- A Mac with Apple Silicon running macOS 12 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
- Claude Code installed and signed in. Keep it open when using Winskel. Winskel plans every objective with Claude Code.
- Codex installed and signed in if you want Winskel to use Codex models. Keep it open for routes that use Codex. It is optional for Claude Code-only work.
- A Git repository you are authorized to change, or one you clone from GitHub (setting up Git for a plain folder comes in the next release)
- A Google account to sign in with

## Download

Download Winskel for Mac from the Winskel homepage. It is free. The current build is 0.7.0-alpha.1. Open the disk image and drag Winskel to Applications. Do not use an internal development path or an older build from anywhere else. Winskel does not update itself yet; new builds come from winskel.com.

## First launch

The Beta build is not signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized by Apple yet, so macOS blocks the first launch and says it cannot verify the app.

- Open Winskel from Applications once and close the warning
- Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security
- Under Security, choose Open Anyway next to the message about Winskel and confirm
- On macOS 14 or earlier you can instead Control-click Winskel in Applications and choose Open

> **Only for this download.** Approve a build only when it came from the download link on winskel.com.

Sign in with your Google account. Your Winskel account is created the first time you sign in.

Before starting work, open Claude Code and Codex on this Mac and complete their normal sign-in. Winskel detects the local apps and connects automatically. Claude Code is required; Codex is needed only for routes that use Codex.
